Walaupun untuk sementara permusuhan antara Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) dan Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) dapat diredam namun masalah yang dihadapi Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) sepertinya belum selesai. Masa sekolah hampir usai dan Bella harus segera membuat pilihan.

Permusuhan antara vampire dan wolfpack memang sudah berumur ratusan tahun dan tak bisa begitu saja diakhiri namun Bella juga tak mungkin memilih antara Edward dan Jacob. Bella sangat mencintai Edward namun ia juga tak ingin kehilangan Jacob sebagai seorang sahabat sementara dua pria dalam hidup Bella ini seolah tak bisa akur. Kalaupun ada yang membuat suasana jadi sedikit tenang hanyalah perjanjian wilayah antara kaum vampire dan wolfpack yang tetap dipegang sampai saat ini.

Di saat suasana sudah tak mengenakkan seperti ini, muncul masalah baru. Teror vampire kembali merebak. Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard)0 membunuh beberapa penghuni kota Seattle dengan maksud membangun pasukan Newborns untuk memerangi keluarga Cullen dan wolfpack yang melindungi Bella. Perang dalam diri Bella sendiri juga semakin hari semakin berkecamuk. Ia harus segera membuat keputusan antara tetap menjadi manusia atau mengikuti Edward dan berubah menjadi vampire.

Ini bukan pertama kalinya sutradara David Slade berurusan dengan vampir. Sutradara ini sebelumnya juga mengerjakan film tentang makhluk penghisap darah ini meski dengan nuansa yang jauh berbeda. Kali ini David tak hanya membuat film vampir tapi menerjemahkan novel populer karya Stephenie Meyer ke dalam bentuk visual dan itu bukanlah pekerjaan mudah.

Dua film sebelumnya bukanlah karya David Slade dan sutradara ini harus membuat banyak kompromi. Di satu sisi ia harus bisa mengusung versi novelnya secara utuh agar para fans dari novel populer ini tak kecewa sementara di sisi lain ia juga punya kreativitas sebagai seorang sutradara. Masalah lain adalah bahwa ia tak bisa terlalu banyak mengubah tone dari dua bagian sebelumnya.

Untungnya David Slade cukup piawai meramu berbagai persyaratan tadi dalam bagian keempat yang berjudul THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. Beberapa style dari bagian kedua seperti pengambilan gambar dari udara dan penggunaan handheld camera yang membuat gambar jadi terasa lebih dinamis tetap dipertahankan sementara penggambaran kota Seattle yang sedang dilanda wabah vampir seolah penafsiran David Slade sendiri yang ia dapat dari pengalaman mengerjakan 30 DAYS OF NIGHT.

Timing pun terasa lebih baik dari bagian kedua yang terasa berjalan lambat meskipun tak bisa dipungkiri jika dialog antara para pemainnya masih tak jauh beda dengan dua film yang mendahuluinya. Tak bisa disalahkan memang karena film ini memang dibuat untuk dikonsumsi para teenager yang jelas tak menginginkan dialog yang terlalu berat. Dan karena bagian ketiga ini notabene adalah bagian yang paling banyak menelan biaya produksi, maka bisa dipastikan sajian visualnya pun jadi lebih bagus dari dua bagian sebelumnya.

Although for a while hostilities between Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) can be muted but the problems faced by Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) apparently has not been completed. The school year is almost over and the Bella must immediately make a choice.

Hostilities between the vampire and the Wolfpack are already hundreds of years old and it can not be terminated but Bella is also not possible to choose between Edward and Jacob. Bella loves Edward, but he also did not want to lose Jacob as a friend while the two men in this life as though Bella could not get along. If anything that makes the atmosphere a bit quiet area just a treaty between the vampires and the Wolfpack are still held today.

At the moment the atmosphere was unpleasant as this, new problems arise. Terror vampire again erupted. Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard) 0 killed several inhabitants of the city of Seattle with the intention of building Newborns troops to fight the Cullen family and the Wolfpack to protect Bella. Bella war within themselves also are increasingly raging. He must soon make a decision between the human remains or follow Edwards and turned into a vampire.

This is not the first time director David Slade dealing with vampires. The director is also working on this before the movie about this blood-sucking creature, though with a far different shades. This time David did not just make a vampire movie but translate the works of Stephenie Meyer's popular novel into a visual form and it is not easy work.

The two previous films are not the work of director David Slade and it must make many compromises. On the one hand he should be able to carry the version of his novel as a whole for the fans of this popular novel did not upset while on the other hand he also had creativity as a director. Another problem is that it can not be too much to change the tone of the two previous sections.

Fortunately David Slade pretty good at concocting a variety of conditions earlier in the fourth section, entitled THE TWILIGHT SAGA: Eclipse. Some like the styling of the second part of shooting from the air and the use of handheld camera that makes so much more dynamic image is maintained while the depiction of the city of Seattle who was hit by outbreaks of vampires as David Slade's own interpretation of what he can from the experience of working on 30 DAYS OF NIGHT.

Timing feels better than the second part which was running slow even can not be denied if the dialogue between the players was not much different with the two films that preceded it. I do not blame indeed because this movie was made for consumption of the teenager who clearly did not want a dialogue that is too heavy. And because of this third part is actually a part of the most cost of production, then certainly its visual presentation was so much better than the two previous sections.
